royal botanical gardens victoria, melbourne

We love a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Such a tranquil slice of paradise, right on the doorstep of the city we all love. It’s a fantastic option for a party, picnic, get together, or spot of exercise walking or scooting around.

You will find streams of people setting up bunting, stretching out in the sun, popping platters onto picnic rugs and you’re likely to feel the love in the air (there are always lots of weddings here). While there are always lots of visitors here, you can be sure to find a private spot because the gardens are so enormous.

With plenty to discover, you really can’t tackle it ALL in one go, so Mamma says come back time and again, visiting a new part of the garden each time!

Mamma says for family friendly fun, head to the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden. This is a lush fenced-in garden made for play! And for a cool stroll through what feels like an ancient rainforest, Fern Gully is the spot.

Mamma's special mention:

Head over to the NGV. Mamma loves to take a seat in the back room and stare at the stain glass on the ceiling. It is often quiet here.
