Joy at the Immigration Museum

Go for a joyful journey through seven amazing installations, by seven Australian artists, that depicts different types of joy. Mamma syays this vibrant and immersive new exhibition is on now at the Immigration Museum till the 29th of August.

Enter through a runway of lights and coloured jewels where the artist invites us to embrace who we are and celebrate it, so let the kids go first, will they walk? run? skip? strut? pose?

You’ll also find the “Joy Generator” and a large bright mural of a Persian mythical bird plus a giant toy bunny to climb and hug! there is also a more reflective space, you can grab a cushion and listen carefully to the sounds of laughter and singing.

One of the highlights for Mamma was “Video Land”. This sparked so much joy for Mamma. The overload of nostalgia while walking the aisles of this replica 90’s video shop was wonderful. What made this more joyful was being able to share the experience and memories with the kids who have only ever known streaming their fave programs.

Lifts and pram parking are available; if not too busy inside, you may take your pram in.

There are lots of opportunities to reflect on what makes you happy throughout this whole exhibition and you are even invited to share what sparks your own joy, by writing it down and placing it on the ‘Share Your Joy’ wall.

The insights of joy from Mamma’s two kiddos were most definitely - cars and the colour pink.
